|
When you send us your licence application you will need to provide supporting identity documents. These documents will be returned to you by courier after they have been checked and scanned onto our system. All documents must be originals and must be in your current name unless accompanied by a deed poll document, adoption certificate or marriage certificate that confirms your name has changed.
Please do not send documents that you will need in the immediate future.

You should fill in your passport number at question D4 of the application form and enclose:

How to check for a digital passport: All UK passports issued since 2002 are digital and some digital passports were issued before then. If your photograph and personal details are on page 31 (or 47 in Jumbo passports) and your photograph has been digitally reproduced, the passport is a digital passport. If your photograph and personal details are on the inside of the back cover, then the passport is not a digital passport.

Photograph
Please make sure that you bring with you 2 good-quality colour passport sized photographs to the
exam.
Check your photograph. If it is one that the SIA will not accept, get new ones that will.
To be accepted, photographs should be full face (without sunglasses and normally without a hat, unless
the applicant wears a head covering due to their religious beliefs or their ethnic background, which is acceptable). If you normally wear prescription spectacles, we would accept a photograph wearing them.
Examples of a photograph that we would accept are: explained in your info pack supplied by the SIA.
Criminality Checks
An important part of the SIA job is to reassure the public by preventing criminals from working within the private security industry. Therefore, they will assess each applicant's suitability for a licence according to their integrity and professionalism. They do this in accordance with criteria which is rigorous, consistent and fair in its approach.
The SIA Criminality record indicator is an interactive application which will provide you with an indication of whether you may or may not meet our criminality criteria in order to obtain an SIA licence at www.the-sia.org.uk/licences/doors-crc2.asp.
