BIIAB National Certificate for Door Supervisors (Scotland)
Who is the qualification for?
If you want to work as a door steward in Scotland you need to have a licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which was set up by the government to regulate the private security industry, including door supervision. Without a licence, you can't legally work on the door of licensed premises.
What does the assessment involve?
To get an SIA licence you will need to satisfy three requirements:
- Pass an identity check
- Pass a criminal records check
- Possess a recognised door supervisor qualification.
Holding a recognised door supervisor qualification is part of the SIA's requirements to obtain a licence to practise. BIIAB offers the NCDS (Scotland). In order to achieve this qualification, learners must successfully complete two examinations:
- Unit 1 - Roles and Responsibilities of Door Supervisors
- Unit 2 - Conflict Management for Door Supervisors.
Study time is approx 30 hours.
